Increasing smallholder farmers’ market participation through technology adoption in rural Timor‐Leste

Abstract This study examines the role of high‐yielding maize varieties as one key drivers smallholder farmers’ market participation in a highly subsistence rural economy. The analysis is based on End‐of‐Program Survey data collected by Seeds Life program 2016 covering 700 households Timor‐Leste. results reveal significant positive impacts technology adoption participation. Households where women are relatively more active agriculture than men likely to engage agricultural commerce. also show impact productivity. These findings present first empirical evidence causal link between and choices.
